A New Method for InSAR Stratified Tropospheric Delay Correction Facilitating Refinement of Coseismic Displacement Fields of Small-to-Moderate Earthquakes

Focusing on stratified tropospheric delay correction in the small-amplitude coseismic displacement field of small-to-moderate earthquakes (<Mw 6.5), we develop a Simple-Stratification-Correction (SSC) approach based empirical phase-elevation relationship and spatial properties troposphere, via an equal-size window segmentation. We validate our SSC method using 23 real that occurred from January 2016 to May 2021 with moment magnitude (Mw) ranging 4.5 6.5. conclude performs well according amount reduction semi-variance root-mean-square value. This primarily focuses stratification correction; thus, it is especially useful regions complex terrain, while can mitigate partial large-scale turbulence signals. investigate three parameters are empirically setup working flow inspect their optimal settings, when implementing for quick response after earthquake. Our ready be integrated into operational InSAR processing chain produce reliable atmospheric phase screen map, which also serve as auxiliary product quickly timely quantify delays interferograms. Through improved accuracy field, focal mechanism could better constrained facilitate building expansion geodesy-based earthquake catalogue.
